This paper has taken a few mental breaks so I could think and write clearly. A Good Man is Hard to Find does not follow the typical tale of a good man, but rather makes you think, what is a good man? When the story is says man, I also refer that to women. Grandmother's relationship with her son is not the best it can be, actually it seems very controlling and dominating; and she does not allow much room for growth. Grandmother is living with her son and his family, but has seemingly taken over the household. Life in the Bailey household is Grandmother's way or no way, which is apparent when the children's mother is not given much significance or interest. Also, I tried to think of everyday life at this household and I felt as if there would be hardly any communication going on... I mean real communication, communication where Bailey would wake up and kiss his wife in the morning and ask her how she was doing, what he could do for her to make her life easier, and support her in running the house; keep his children in check where they were respectful and less mouthy, spending more quality time with them showing them that even though Grandmother is living with them they are still his high priority, and finally with his mother, he shows her compassion and as a man takes the lead of his house even though it might hurt his mother's feelings at first but it is how the role is suppose to go. However, what we see is the opposite, things and remarks are rolled off into the dust and feelings of control and lack of desire to do anything about it is thrown out the window. Grandmother unintentionally puts the family under harms way and they are killed off in pairs, while she desperately tries to change the Misfit, but ends up dying...however dying redeemed for her trespasses.

Revision for Paper 1
I am sitting trying to get the revision completed, but it truly is requiring analyzing the story for what it truly means. There are so many different ways this short story can be written, but the challenge I am finding is narrowing down my points in my introduction while writing creatively followed with a stylish flow. Through this writing process it is forcing me to look at the paper critically and eliminate what is not necessary and focusing on my points.

Hey everyone! Currently we are in class and working out the kinks in our blog, docs, and sites. I am loving the intensity of this class, and cannot wait till all this starts running smoothly. If anybody is interested in working in study groups outside of class, let us get together! My email is cllo1429@students.spcc.edu.

Friday... or rather Pre-Saturday... :-)
After a very active week... I find myself rather at loss with this "free" time on my hands. Let me correct myself... I am not used to having this much time on my hands. My morning has consisted on catching up heavily on assignments and reading, for which I am thankful for this time! But what really is keeping me on this study roll is the fact that it is Friday and the rest of the family will be coming in from work tonight, we'll have dinner (for me this is the first time this week that I eat dinner at home... rephrase... eat dinner... period). My goal is to have as much school-work done so I can actually snuggle on the coach with a warm fuzzy blanket and watch a really good movie... make a commentaries while watching... interrupt and talk to my family while they tell me to hush and make some pleasant memories before I begin all over again with school tomorrow.
I read the front cover of the latest Reader Digest this morning... I found this funny... it's cover story was "The Secrets to a Healthy Heart", and a sub-story of Paula Dean and her success to her tremendous cooking career! (For those who don't know Paula... she is the Queen of Southern Cooking, where she uses butter and fat to galore), but what got my attention was a statement, 10 Things You're Thankful For, well one of my first was I actually have school work to do... I don't know what I would do if we did not have SPCC. Every town should have something offered to them.
Anyhow, enough of this rambling... I have been enjoying pondering on the stories that I've read, especially A Good Man is Hard to Find, by Flannary O'Connor. What was her point in the title...it still befaddles me! As I open the doorway into the story, I have a mental picture of Mr Darcy waiting to greet me at the door, but if a chicken has lips... everybody in the story gets killed... and Mr Darcy is no where to be found! Just the Misfit. Terribly disappointing.
